On June 3, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a revised minimum income requirement for the Canada Super Visa. This year, the income threshold has increased by approximately 6.8%, compared to a 3.33% rise last year.
The Canada Super Visa is a temporary visa that allows parents and grandparents to live with their families in Canada. It offers the convenience of multiple entries over a ten-year period. Holders of this visa can stay in Canada for up to five years without needing to renew their status. This is a significant advantage over the standard 10-year multiple-entry visitor visas, which only permit a six-month stay per entry.
To qualify for the Super Visa, applicants must meet the new one-year annual gross income requirements based on their family size. The updated income requirements for 2024 are as follows:
Size of Family Unit | New Minimum Gross Income Requirement for 2024 | Old Gross Income Requirement for 2023 |
1 person (your child or grandchild) | $29,380 | $27,514 |
2 persons | $36,576 | $34,254 |
3 persons | $44,966 | $42,100 |
4 persons | $54,594 | $51,128 |
5 persons | $61,920 | $57,988 |
6 persons | $69,834 | $65,400 |
7 persons | $77,750 | $72,814 |
If you have more than seven people, then add this amount per person | $7,916 | $7,412 |
